You know how every application, if not set otherwise, opens web links and also pages within some browser-like pop-up? That’s what Android System WebView is actually for. This built-in interface-less app will provide integration for web content in basically all apps rather than switching to Chrome or any other browser. This should, ideally, decrease RAM usage and rendering. In this article, we are going to talk about What is Android System Webview-Can you Uninstall it. Let’s begin!

What Is Android System Webview?
Android System is a smaller version of Chrome that permits you to open links within the app you are using so you won’t have to leave the app.
This means that when you tap on a link in an app. Then it will open Android System Webview as if it is the browser built into the app.
One thing you need to keep in mind is that not every app may support it. That is why links from some apps open on Chrome and not from within the app.
Can I Uninstall Android System Webview?
If you want to get rid of Android System Webview, then you can only uninstall the updates and not the app itself. You can do that if your Android device is not running on Nougat or higher. With Nougat, Google got rid of it as a standalone app and rather uses Chrome itself as a Webview app.
If you have Nougat and still have the app, then the Android System Webview is running on Chrome and not on the app. And if the app is not already disabled, then it’s safe to do it yourself.
If you still have it and want to uninstall it, then go to Google Play -> Click on the hamburger icon -> My Apps & Games -> Installed tab. You will find the app near the top. Click on it and then choose the uninstall button.
If you are using Android Nougat or above, then it’s safe to disable it, however, if you are using inferior versions, then its best to leave it as is. If Chrome is disabled, then it may be because you’re using another browser. At that point, it’s best for you that you keep the Android System Webview app.
Just because you may not know what an app is for, it actually doesn’t generally mean that it doesn’t do anything useful. If you don’t know what an app does, then it’s best to investigate since you could end up deleting an app that is only there to give you the best possible performance.
