Do you want to Add Multiple Lines Of Text In Single Cell? If we talk about the spreadsheet, we’ve one line of text and also one piece of information per cell. In some situations, it’s not the case as you may find yourself wanting to keep the whole address in a field, for example, like full-length sentences of description.
Finally, you are glad to hear that you can type information into more than one line in a Google Sheets cell. Tap on the cell in question and enter the first line of your content.
So, there are various scenarios in which we like to add several lines of text within a single cell in Google Sheets. In some cases, you want to explain the calculations you are making. It might be you want to detail line items on a budget. Whatever the case, getting all your text to fit into a single cell while keeping your spreadsheet looking professional and engaging to others.
Hopefully, there are different methods to easily achieve this goal. Few methods I did not even know myself until today. Let’s take a look at the easiest and the simplest popular methods.

Use a Keyboard Shortcut
Double-tap within the cell, you want to create more lines. Simply place the cursor where you want your line to break and then hit both the ”ALT” and ”Enter” keys at the same time. However, if the cell can’t already have text in it, just double-tap the cell and hit the two keys multiple times until you achieve the number of text rows you like to have.
Using the Char Function
Tap the cell you want to add additional rows to and input the following formula: =char(10). You will not view the formula display up if you just copy and paste it. However, the rows will be added automatically. If you input it by hand, the formula displays up and then just hit the ”Enter” button to make it vanish and the row appear.
If you want to input multiple blank lines then you need to mess around using this formula to suit your needs. In some cases, move to the cell and input this formula: =rept(char(10),8). This inserts eight blank lines in the same cell. You can modify that number eight to any number that works for you.
Recommend Google to Add Row Sizing Options!
Well, at this time you can’t make a uniform row height… not also by right-tapping on the row and modifying the row height. We all hope, Google will add this in the near future. But don’t fret, you can always feel free to recommend it to them by tapping ”Help” at the top of the page and selecting ”Report an issue/problem.”
So many of us do not realize this feature is not only used to report actual issues. Google team uses this feature to receive feedback and ideas. Provide a detailed explanation of what you would like to view and why!
