Google has in place very tight security when it comes to the Google Pay App. You can’t use Android Pay while you’re rooted and you cannot use it on debug releases of firmwares/ROMs, including Android 7.0 Nougat based CM14 and Android 6.0 Marshmallow based CM13 ROMs.
If your device is running an unofficial build OR nightly releases of CM14 or CM13, then you cannot use Google Pay on them, even if you’ve disabled root from Developer options setting on the ROM.
If you want to use Android Pay with CM14 or CM13, you gotta be running official and stable (non-nightly) releases of the either ROMs on your device. Plus, also make sure that root is disabled in the Developer options setting.
So, to use Android Pay with CM14 and CM13, you need to take care of the following two things:
- Make sure you’ve installed official and stable (non-nightly) release of CM14 or CM13.
- Make sure root is disabled in the Developer options setting on the device.
That’s all you need to take care of to use Android Pay on CyanogenMod ROMs. You can also see our complete guide on How to use Android Pay on Rooted Devices.
Have Fun Androiding!
