Skype is already telling you if you successfully sent your message and it is delivery. It also tells you when contact was online for the last time. If contact is currently active and when someone is writing.
According to the short tests we have done, it seems that for now. This function depends on the version of the app that the other person is performing. If the person you are talking to is not yet running a version of Skype that supports read receipts. You are unable to get receipts and of course. There are a few days left and there is one thing still not clear and that is if you want to skip or postpone the update before you get the initial errors that are identified and resolved, you can easily get this feature through an app update.
