You guys have to visit this link in your browser. You can do this on any device, it does not necessarily have to be an Apple device actually. Tap on the Account option at the top right and then sign in with your Apple account.

Apple basically lets you sign up as an individual or as a company as well. There does not seem to be an option that basically offers students a discounted rate for a developer account. You will need the paid version in order to update your app but you do not need it to continue distribution as well. Create an Apple developer account
- First, visit developer.apple.com
- Tap on Member Center.
- Then sign in with your Apple ID.
- If you already have an Apple ID, then you will just need to agree to Apple’s Developer Agreement in order to turn it into a free developer account. Then type in your Apple ID and click Sign In.
- If you guys do not already have an Apple ID, then you will need to create one first. Tap on Create Apple ID, and fill out the needed information, and tap on Continue. You will then need to sign in with the Apple ID that you just created, and head back to the Member Center.
- Now on the Apple Developer Agreement page, press the first checkbox in order to accept the agreement and press the Submit button.
Sign in with Xcode
- First, download Xcode from the Mac App Store.
- Then open Xcode.
- Tap Xcode → Preferences → Accounts and press the ‘+’ sign and select Add Apple ID.
- Now log in with the Apple ID that you just turned on with free developer privileges.
