When you take a picture you often want to share it with friends and family. Nobody can admire your beautiful selfie if nobody can see it. Today’s computing facilitates this beautifully with a few taps and your recent snapshot can be seen by your small army of followers on social media or individuals. The only issue is storage space on your iPhone. Sooner or later, even if you have storage visible from space it is going to run out. This is when you use photo sharing in iCloud to save, share, and show your latest pictures.

Photo Sharing in iCloud
Those clever geniuses at Apple have developed iCloud Photo Library or iCloud Photos if you use iOS12 and this enables you to store and share photos. For convenience, we’ll use the term iCloud Photos which facilitates syncing your pictures to make them viewable on all devices. Pre iOS12 your device will show it as iCloud Photo Library which is the same thing with a longer name. So with this in mind, let’s look at tips for getting the most from iCloud Photos.
1 Declutter Before Syncing
It is a good idea to declutter your photo library before you sync unless you’re a fan of outdated screenshots and duplicate images eating up your 5GB of storage space. And if you shoot lots of videos, and take lots of pictures, this 5GB will quickly vanish. So be smart and declutter all the images and videos you have no need for before you sync.
2 Make Sure Your iCloud Photos are Switched on
It could well be the case that your iPhone doesn’t have iCloud Photos isn’t switched on. If it isn’t photo sharing in iCloud is impossible
To check and indeed flick the switch do the following:
- Go to Settings, and tap your name.
- Go iCloud
- Select Photos – it should be the top option in the dropdown underneath storage.
- Switch it on.
3 To See Full Resolution Pictures on Your iPhone Use iCloud
When you open the photos app on your phone, you’re only looking at lower-resolution previews and not the original image. When you take a picture the original is stored in iCloud to save space on your phone.
If you want to see the whole thing on your iPhone, use iCloud. Here’s how to do it.
- Log in to iCloud. Enter your Apple ID and password.
- From the list of apps select Photos.
- After loading you’ll see the full-resolution pictures.
It is worth noting that iCloud-stored pictures are the original master copy. So if your favorite, edit or delete a picture in iCloud, it changes it on all synced devices.
4 Yes, You can Download Full Resolution Pictures to Your iPhone
You may want to share a full-resolution picture to show it in all its glory. To do this, do this:
- Go to Settings, Your name, iCloud, Photos.
- Tap Download and Keep Originals.
And it’s done.
