Then, open File Explorer and move to the following location and remove everything in the Download folder.

Next, move back to the Services window, and begin the Windows Update service again. Move to the Settings app, choose the Update & Security group of settings. On the Windows Update tab, check for the latest updates. Simply install and download any new updates that are available.

Windows Update Troubleshooter

Firstly, download the Windows Update Troubleshooter app. Now run the app using administrative rights i.e. right-tap the file that you downloaded and choose ‘Run as administrator’ from the context menu.

Enable the app to check for issues, and apply all fixes that it recommends. It applies all solutions in one go, or it might apply many fixes one-by-one. Here there’s no risk that you will lose any files or data. When the app completes installing updates, it will recommend another solution that allows you, that you have pending updates available for your machine.

When you view the message saying you there are updates available for your system. Simply opens the Settings app and move to Update & Security>Windows Update. Now check for all updates and the same updates failed to install when you got error 0x80070002. Also, install them without any issues.

This should resolve any update issue having error 0x80070002 however, this method doesn’t resolve all Windows update issues.
