In Android 10, Google allows you to adjust the accent colours to give your phone a bit of style. When combined with the new dark mode of the entire system, you are seeing eight different colour combinations. That’s seven more than we had in the previous version and seven additional ways for your phone to stand out.
This feature is very similar to the accent colours of Oxygen OS. It allows you to adjust the secondary colour (which by default is blue) where it appears in Configuration and Quick Settings. This is different from the dark mode of the system that inverts the primary colour from white to black. Instead, this will alter the colour of Active Configuration, Alternate, and much more.
Step 1: Activate developer options
The first thing you need to do is activate the Developer Options. To do so, open Settings and choose “About phone”. Locate the “Compilation Number” (which is the last option) and touch it seven times quickly until you are taken to a new page that asks for the password, gesture or PIN of the lock screen. After successfully entering the requested information, a warning message will appear that says “you are now a developer” and will return to the previous page.
Go back to Settings and choose “System”. Select “Advanced” and a new option will appear above “System Update” called “Developer Options”. Choose this option
Step 2: change Pixel themes in Android 10
With Developer Options open, scroll to the bottom of the page until you see a grouping titled “Theming”. Choose the first option, “Accent Color” and a pop-up window will appear with four options: “Device Default, Black, Green and Purple. These are the accent colours you can choose to change, with blue being the default.
Select any option and the colour of the active Quick Setup tiles, the brightness bar, the volume control, the icons in the power menu (except for emergencies), the text cursor, radios, the battery icon in the “Battery” menu and more change. Virtually any place that was blue before the system user interface will now be the new accent colour. If you ever want to go back to blue, just go back to this menu and select “Default Device”.
