Well, this American news aggregator website has finally come up along with a new design, a new layout is finally here now. After a decade the New Reddit Design has finally happened as well. Even though the beta design was not open to all of its users, now the new design is available to all of the Reddit users as well. Reddit has a new design that basically features an auto-scrolling front page. It actually has three different layouts for posts, and also links now open in a new tab by default. Reddit is slowly rolling out the new design to its users now. Some are already using it however, others are waiting for it to roll out. The thing is, you can turn on the new Reddit design at will.
If you want to enable the new Reddit design, then you will need a Reddit account. This is just so you can access the preference that allows you to choose the new design. You can sign out right after and then use Reddit anonymously. If you do not have a Reddit account, then it’s free so that you can sign up for it. And forget it exists after you turn on the new Reddit design as well.
How to Get New Reddit Design
New Design
Sign in to Reddit and then visit the Reddit pref page. If you guys are not signed in, then you won’t be able to see the preferences actually. Scroll to the very bottom of this page and choose the “View user profiles on desktop using legacy mode” option as well. Head to Reddit and then the new design should be turned on as well. You can also sign out and each and every time you visit its website, you will then see the new design.
Old Reddit Design
In order to go back to the old design, you can press the little blue button at the top of website. It will appear each and every time you visit the website, regardless if you are signed in or not. This blue bar can be dismissed and if you have dismissed it and want to revert to the old design, then you can do that through going to the same Reddit preference page as well.
Head to the Reddit preference page and then uncheck the ‘View user profiles on desktop using legacy mode’ option. You can also sign out and the old design will stick there.
At some point, it will delete the old design and then roll out the new one for all of its users. The new design has broken popular and famous extensions such as Reddit Enhancement Suite. Its users are waiting for the extension to upgraded in order to support the new design. However, until then, users might want to stick to the old design even if Reddit is pushing the new one to them as well.
The new design has not met with the backlash actually. It’s not a bad design however, it is definitely different. You can also open a post in the current tab and then return to the main page without even losing your place. The links are highlighted more, and there are three different layouts that you can select from actually.
