How To Fix Blurry Video Playback In VLC Player

Do you want to fix blurry video playback in VLC player? VLC player can play any type of file. After having an MKV file that the TV app & Movies in Windows 10 can’t play, VLC is the answer. The app can do lots of stuff rather than just play media. Also, you can use it to stream a live feed and also record your PC desktop. That said and rather than its many features, VLC stutters at times while playing a video. After playing the same file using a different app and the issues go away then you want to tweak your VLC player settings. Here’s how you can resolve scrambled video playback in VLC.

Fix Blurry Video Playback -> Turn Off Accelerated Video Output

Head over to the VLC player and move to Tools>Preferences. Then choose the ‘Video’ tab to move to video-specific settings. At the bottom of the ‘Display’ group of settings. You can then disable the ‘Accelerated video output (Overlay)’ option. Tap ‘Save’ and then try to play your video file again to view if the scrambling is gone. If not, try the other fix.

Play Media From Local Storage

After playing a media file from an external or network drive, or a DVD, you can then try to copy it to your desktop and then again play it. It works when a file that played without any issues suddenly begins stuttering during playback. At times, drives move into a sleep state and VLC can’t play files properly. It’s best to move media to your local storage area before playing it.

Fix Blurry Video Playback -> Enhance Network Caching Rate

Move down all the way to the end of the Preferences window and choose ‘All’ under ‘Show Settings’. As it’ll expand VLC’s preferences panel to display the advanced settings.

From the Advanced Preferences window, choose the ‘Input/Codecs’ from the column on the left. The right side pane will display settings for codecs. Move down to the ‘Advanced’ section and view for the ‘Netwrok Caching (ms)’. Enhance the value of this preference. Try to double it and then again play the video.

It’ll take a little trial and error to check out but enhancing the network caching rate can resolve scrambled video playback in VLC.

If Nothing Works

Try to play the file in a different app. If the app can easily play the file without scrambling it then you face codec issues in VLC. You might want to install the new codec or a codec might have become damaged or corrupted. When the file can’t play in any other app either then it is possible the file itself is corrupted.

However, all media files are encoded so that they can be played. In case, if they can’t encode properly or compressed too much the file quality can decline to the point where they begin to stutter during playback. In this situation, there isn’t much you can do. Try to install a fresh or real copy of the file if required.

Conclusion:

Here’s all about “Fix Blurry Video Playback”. I hope you can easily resolve the issue after following the steps given above. If you want to share any other method then rather than this then let us know below!
