The betas of iOS 13 and iPadOS are now accessible to everyone. Despite Apple’s efforts to try to keep the first betas only for developers, it is now possible to access the profiles that allow downloading of the new versions. This means that all users, regardless of their level of experience, can access the first beta compilations of iOS 13 and iPadOS. This opens the doors to many of them are disappointed, and no wonder.
These first versions of the last update of the system give access to many of the novelties that will offer in their public launching. However, there are still quite a few mistakes, and the experience that can be had today is far from what we will find in a few months. In this way, surely many already regret having made the leap to the new version to have faced something that might not correspond with what was expected by many.
For this reason, from appleforcast, we bring you a brief guide in which we will present the method you should follow to return to your previous version with security. This process will be much easier if you have saved in iTunes or iCloud a backup of your phone’s files. Even so, if you do not have a backup, do not worry. How to make downgrade from iOS 13
To start, you will need to turn off Find my iPhone on your device. To do so, you simply have to go to Settings, access the section of your profile, and select Search, where we will find a new section called Find my iPhone that will allow us to deactivate the service. This is a mandatory step since the activation lock prevents you from restoring a phone without being deactivated first.
Restore from an IPSW file
- After disabling Find my iPhone, we just need to get hold of the nearest Mac or PC with the latest version of iTunes installed. Now we can use both the IPSW files of the latest version of the system or a backup made before installing the beta.
- Connect your device to the Mac or PC through a USB connection, not through Wi-Fi, iTunes will detect it and the device page will be enabled.
- If you want to restore the system without backup with an IPSW file, select restore while pressing Option on Mac or Control on Windows, this will open a browser window that allows you to select a compatible file.
- iTunes will begin to restore the device from the selected file. Remember not to disconnect the USB cable until iTunes indicates it has finished.

Restore the device through the recovery mode
- Finally, if you do not want to risk downloading an IPSW file from the Internet, you can also use this method:
- Activate the recovery mode by pressing and holding the Lock / Activation button and a volume off key while connecting via USB until the phone requests to be connected to iTunes. On iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, you must press and hold the Lock / Activate and Volume Down buttons. If you have an iPad with Face ID, press the Sleep button and one of the volume buttons to turn off the device, then connect the iPad to the PC while pressing Volume Up. For other devices, you will have to turn off the device and then connect the USB while pressing the start button until the recovery screen appears.
- Connect your device to a Mac or PC and iTunes will recognize it as a device in recovery mode.
- Next, choose Restore and confirm the action by selecting Restore and Update.
- Wait for iTunes to complete the process and do not disconnect the device.
Once you have finished any of these methods, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the latest stable version of the iOS operating system. In the future, you can always go back to the beta versions if you want, but remember first what you might suppose if it does not go as expected.
