It defaults to charging mode as well. If you guys are looking to transfer pictures from the device to your PC, you guys have to pull down the Notification panel. In this article, we are going to talk about Android 6.0.1 USB Settings – Set Default USB. Let’s begin!

In older versions of Android, there was an option in order to set the default USB connection type. So that you guys wouldn’t have to choose it each time you connected your device. In Android 6.0, the options seem to have disappeared as well. It has in fact moved and you guys can only access it if you’ve enabled developer options as well.

Android 6.0.1 USB Settings – Set Default USB

In order to now set a default type for the USB connection, also you have to have developer options enabled in Android. There is simply no way around it as well. If you already have developer options enabled, then you can go ahead to the next step and set the default for the USB connection, if not, then turn on them first.

With Developer Options enabled, head to the Settings app and tap Developer Options. Then scroll down to the Networking section of settings and you guys will see the ‘Select USB Configuration’ option. Click on it and select the default type that you want to set.

Now connect your device to your PC and wait. If it doesn’t show up in file explorer, then check to see if Windows is searching for drivers as well. If it is, permit it to search and install any drivers it needs. This can also happen even if you have connected your Android device to your PC under the same connection type as well. Do not disconnect the device and permit Windows to finish installing drivers. The next time you guys connect your device, it will default to the connection type you set as well.

This change made to Android was really unnecessary. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if the option had simply moved to a different location as well. However, it’s done that and also made it compulsory to turn on Developer Options as well.
