Yesterday Apple released by surprise the iPad mini 5 and the iPad Air 3. Both tablet models are compatible with the Apple Pencil, have the classic design with wide frames and physical start button, and have the implementation of an A12 Bionic chip.
The A12 Bionic processor was introduced with the iPhone line of late 2018. And, interestingly, it offers the same power and speed on the iPhone XS as on the new iPad of 2019.
We recently discovered how the iPhone XS Max was surpassed by the Samsung Galaxy S10 + in a speed test. Which would indicate that the Galaxy S10 + is also faster than the iPad Air 3? It would be a good duel!
First benchmark of the iPad line of 2019
Shortly after Apple’s announcement about the launch of the iPad mini 5 and the iPad Air 3, the first Geekbench benchmark of one of these models appeared. We do not know which of the two models it is since in the benchmark it is called iPad11.2.
In the benchmark of the iPad11.2, we see a speed of 2.49 GHz, exactly identical to the speed of the iPhone XS. The analysis also indicated that the iPad of 2019 has 3 GB of RAM. It is the same RAM as the iPhone XR … while the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max have 4 GB of RAM.
The results show the results of 4,806 points and 11,607 points ( via Macrumors ). Results that go hand in hand with the results of the Geekbench benchmark of the iPhone line of 2018.

As we mentioned previously, we do not know if it is the benchmark of the iPad mini 5 or the iPad Air 3. But given the similarity of its technical specifications, we understand that both models offer the same speed and RAM.
