Apple users in half of Europe are in luck. As we have known from MacRumors, as of today, Apple Pay finally reaches 13 countries over the old continent, including Greece, Romania, Slovakia and our neighbors in Portugal, among them. All of them will be able to start using the contactless payment service of Californians with compatible banking entities, which will grow as time goes by and Apple manages to reach more agreements.
Apple Pay has been among us for several years, proving that a world in which payments can be even simpler is possible. At the time, when it was launched together with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, it has already proved to be a feasible alternative to traditional credit cards for many users, for its security and convenience. Now, after expanding in several continents, the company has gone further, confirming it as a great ally in our day to day, for example when it comes to taking public transport.
Just by bringing the device to a compatible payment terminal and after verifying our identity, Apple Pay gives us the possibility to pay at any establishment in the world. This also applies to compatible apps and websites, where the process is reduced to verification. And now, users from Portugal, Greece, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Liechtenstein, Latvia, Lithuania, and Malta will be able to try it on their iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch.

This is just one of the many services that Apple provides us to complete its ecosystem, already made up of the hardware and software of the devices, and it is only the beginning of what we have prepared in relation to payments. A few months ago, the company presented its own credit card, Apple Card, and although it is not yet expected to leave the US, we do not see the moment it reaches other countries with its differentiating experience.
