Like Facebook, Snapchat also quickly use a lot of data. By default, even when using mobile data, Snapchat will automatically download all the snaps you receive or the stories your friend’s post. How to Save Data on Snapchat With Travel Mode
It is a universal truth that gaming applications consume more battery life than other apps. The same applies to applications that can take pictures. If an application connects to your phone’s camera, you can bet anything that will download the battery faster than other apps. This is also valid for many social media apps. Social network apps constantly receive updates in the background. Facebook is known to drain the battery and is largely due to its background activity. There is a similar case for Snapchat. It is also a social media app and also runs out of battery and affects its bandwidth. Fortunately, you can enable the travel mode on Snapchat and prevent your data plan from running out.
Enable the travel mode on Snapchat
- Open Snapchat and tap your Bitmoji avatar or ghost icon in the top left corner.
- On your profile screen, tap the settings icon in the top right corner. This will take you to the Snapchat settings.
- Scroll down to the section of Additional Services and tap Manage. Here, you can enable the travel mode on Snapchat.

How Does Travel Mode Work?
Think of the travel mode as a “tap to load” function. By default, Snapchat uploads stories and chats in the background. All social media apps do it. Both iOS and Android allow you to selectively suspend background activity for apps, but this worsens the experience. The travel mode is, therefore, a better solution. It will load less heavy content, i.e. text. Any message sent will be uploaded automatically, however, if someone shares a plug-in with you, it will not be downloaded automatically. You will need to tap the image to download it. The same applies to the Story feed. You can see which accounts have new stories, but if you don’t touch them, they won’t be charged.
When snapshots or stories are downloaded to the device, they consume the normal amount of data. There is no way around it and the travel mode does not download low-resolution images or anything like that. The good thing about this feature is that it works both in a WiFi network and in your cellular plan. Public WiFi is rarely known for its speed. If there are many people connected, it will be congested and will probably work less efficiently than your cellular plan. In such situations, it is better to enable the travel mode on Snapchat.
